The Value of Time
Lately I’ve become acutely aware of time. Not in a stressful way but in a curious and conscious way.
When you have many things on the go, you realise just how quickly a day, a week, a year can disappear. Like how are we at the end of March already! Wasn't it Christmas just a few weeks back!!
Which is why how you lead your day matters so much.
Because strong self-leadership isn’t about squeezing more into an already full day.
It’s about having the awareness and discipline to pause and ask:
What actually matters here?
And what needs to move, so something else can take its place?
Most people don’t do that. They simply keep adding more. More tasks, more pressure, more expectations.
Until something eventually gives. And very often the thing that gives is our emotional state, our energy, or our sense of joy in the work and life we’re living.
This is where autopilot quietly takes over.
When we are running on autopilot, we stop consciously choosing how we spend our time. We react instead of being intentional. We fill every available space without asking whether the things filling our days are actually aligned with what matters most.
And slowly, almost without noticing, we lose connection to the impact we want to have.
The people we care about and the life we are actually trying to enjoy and build.

What I realise is that time doesn’t disappear all at once it disappears in small, unnoticed pieces.
To realise the value of a year, ask a student who failed their exams.
To realise the value of a month, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.
To realise the value of a day, ask someone who only celebrates their birthday every four years on February 29.
To realise the value of a minute, ask someone who missed a train.
To realise the value of a millisecond, ask an athlete who missed winning Olympic gold.
Time is one of the few things in life that once spent can never be reclaimed.
So value it. Choose consciously where your energy and attention go. Because when you lead yourself well, your time becomes aligned with what matters most.
And isn't that where a more successful and enjoyable life begins?
So don’t get so busy living your schedule that you forget to live your life.

Are You Running on Autopilot Without Realising It?
If any of this resonates, I’ve created something that might give you a bit more clarity.
I’ve put together a short Self-Leadership Quiz to help you identify where you might be operating on autopilot and where your self-leadership is either supporting you or holding you back.
It only takes a few minutes, and it’s a simple way to pause, reflect, and see what might need to shift.
